Some Year 8 pupils were asked to write a poem about War.
Pack of Lions
By
Declan Penberthy
They defended the town like a pack of lions, They raged like powerful tigers, Their heartbeat was pounding, Their red blood was running out, They protected their country because they were proud.
The anticipation was frightening, The sun was shining and happy, The soldiers felt beaten.
Some of the soldiers were noble and excited to rule the country, They lunged at each other with glorious glimmers of their swords, They were fighting in a poppy field and poppies are sweet.
Year 8 have been studying different ballads this term. 8z2 have put together news reports based on two ballads, “The Gresford Disaster” and “The Ballad of Charlotte Dymond” to perform in front of their class.

“I thought that us performing the ballad was really cool because we got to perform in front of our class and then it’s being put on the website.” Bonnie Knapton.
“I thought acting out a ballad in a news form was really fun. I can’t wait to see it on the website.” Maggie Andrews.
