Tiverton High School

Success at the Great Debate competition

On Monday evening, two Year 11 Tiverton High School students competed in the Exeter heat of the Historical Association’s speaking competition, the Great Debate.

They competed against Sixth Form students from Exeter schools and colleges and won!! They had to research, write and present a five-minute speech on the most significant change in their local History in the last 70 years.

They have been working hard on their speeches and spoke exceptionally well, even fielding questions from University lecturers on their chosen topics.

Megan came in first place with her speech about changes in housing in Tiverton and will move on to compete in the national heat in March at Windsor Castle!! Both girls did exceptionally well, and the judges were all very impressed, especially given they were younger than the rest of the competitors.

Congratulations to both of our students and good luck to Megan for the next heat of the competition.
