Our fishing intervention sessions started this week – here is a week 1 report from Mr Morrell
Week 1 Report from the Banks
Tuesday – Carp Match Series Opener
On Tuesday, our carp fishing team competed in the opening match of the series. Harry took an early lead, with George and McKenzie hot on his heels, keeping the competition lively. All the boys performed admirably in what proved to be tricky conditions – a true test of patience and skill. No doubt they’ve all gone away to reflect on their tactics, and we’re confident the nets will be bulging in next week’s round.
Thursday – Canal Trip
On Thursday, the team headed to the canal, with many picking up a rod for the very first time. A special mention goes to Rokas for landing a lovely tench—an excellent effort! Club captain Archie also deserves recognition, working tirelessly throughout the session and being rewarded with an impressive bag.
This group will return to the water next week as they fine-tune their preparations ahead of the big match on Thursday 10 July.
Special Thanks
A huge thank you to Mrs Harris for providing specialist feedback to the boys , Adrian of So Simple Baits for generously supporting both events with bait and tackle for the boys – it made a real difference. And of course, our sincere thanks to Chris Danby of Tiverton Angling Club, who did a fantastic job coaching and running the canal session.
Until next time – tight lines!
